Tranmere confirmed yesterday that defender Marlon Broomes has signed a one year contract with the club. Broomes has been on a pay-as-you-play contract since the beginning of August, and after proving his fitness and putting in some decent performances has earned the deal till next June. This will no doubt see the end of any extension on the loan signing of Gavin Gunning, and will add further experience to what is an exceptionally young team.

Broomes was released by Blackpool at the end of last season.

Good luck Marlon from everyone at Super White Army

Lets hope he proves to be a decent signing. We sure need someone with experience to partner Goody and Broomes hasn’t got a bad CV. I don’t think Gunning was the answer, it was a big ask of an 18 year old centre half at this level. His distribution was very poor. Ash Taylor has always impressed when he’s been given a chance. I hope he gets more opportunities this season.

Why is it that we are signing players that aren’t fit? Surely if playing football is their livelyhood they should keep themselves fit?

Agreed Vineyard but 30 somethings quite possibly have little or no desire for the game anymore and are just after that pay packet. Queue sides in the same boat as us, in desperate need of players that we will take players on like Broomes because as you say his CV looks good!

Is he the answer? again like Bain time will tell, I certainly hope he is the answer. Taylor for me is to lightweight to be a centre back in that league! To me I wonder why we let players like Sharps go, when ok he was not the best but he is now captain of Rotherham and flying high in league 2!!!

As you say good Marlon, earn yourself a new deal for next season to

Stevey Yates didn’t do a bad job for someone in his 30′s. If he’s anywhere near as good as him i’ll be happy!

    Very true!

I am just very skeptical about the game and the players involved in it today. Ok we may oly be 10 years on but i believe the attitude has changed a great deal in that short space of time.

There aren’t many true professionals such as steve Yates around today!
